Mr. Mayor, The newly revised City of Detroit Charter (Sec 6-509) requires the Department of Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environment to "study, prepare and implement a long-term strategic plan ("Green Initiatives and Sustainable Technologies Plan" or "GIST Plan") for the establishment, use and support of green initiatives, technologies and businesses, utilizing public and private partners." I am writing to express my support for this initiative and urge you to ensure that this report is completed thoroughly and within the time frame allowed by The City of Detroit Charter. This issue is one that has the potential for long lasting environmental and economic benefits for the City of Detroit and its residents. Please, take every measure necessary to ensure this report is completed and its initiatives are implemented.
